Last week, Hav A Sole took a special trip up to the Bay to hand out shoes to the local children of Marin City. While most people may be familiar with Marin County, Marin City is a small unincorporated community just five miles north of San Francisco, that experiences significant economic hardship. Despite Marin City not being in Hav A Sole’s immediate backyard, when we were asked to be of support to this community, the answer was an undoubted “yes”.
To make this special day possible, we partnered with the organization Xtreme Unity, aimed at motivating and encouraging the youth to live healthy and active lifestyles by making fitness fun. Together, we served 100 children from MLK Academy, ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to 4th grade, and created countless smiles in the process.
While this day defined fun for the children, and everyone involved, this day was special in many other ways. The expressions illuminating the children’s faces, the heart-warming interactions, and the love that filled the room were so touching, at times, it brought tears to our eyes. Although it feels impossible to articulate just how powerful these moments were, we hope that both the words and the images we share will continue to allow a window into the world of work we get to do each day.
From everyone at the Hav A Sole organization, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all of you who made this incredible day possible and who continue to support our efforts.
